
It is the largest urban zoo in the USA, with nearly 4,000 creatures covering nearly 700 species on 100ha. The animals enjoy simulated indoor and outdoor habitats, like Jungle World, the Congo Gorilla Forest and Tiger Mountain. There are also Himalayan Highlands, with snow leopard and panda, African Plains, Wolf Woods, a World of Darkness (with nocturnal animals), a World of Birds, a mouse house and a huge wilderness area devoted to the elephants of Wild Asia which can be seen from Bengali Express monorail and the Safari cable car from May to October.
