St Paul Chapel

C’est l’édifice le plus ancien de Manhattan utilisé de la même façon depuis sa construction en 1766.
La chapelle de St-Paul fut construite d’après le modèle de l’église de St Martin-in-the-Fields à Londres. C’est la chapelle où George Washington se rendait habituellement pour prier et où il est venu prier juste après son élection comme président.

Cette église épiscopale a servi de support pendant 8 mois aux secouristes qui on travaillé comme volontaires lors des attentats du 11 septembre 2001. Une expositionà l’intérieur de l’église rend hommage à cette période et expose des souvenirs liés aux victimes, des objets envoyés par les autres pays en signe de solidarité, etc.
