Broadway plays an important role in the common imaginary, being the arrival point for actors and show men, and at the same time the departure point of the musicals and plays which made history, not only in the United States, but on the stages and in the cinemas of the whole world.

Actually there are at least three streets in New York with this name (Broadway literally means large road), so we have East Broadway, Old Broadway exc.
But the most famous Broadway, the one everybody knows, is a very long street connecting Manhattan with Albany, the city capital of the State of New York.
After passing through Manhattan, the street continues to Bronx, and afterwards it turns into a state road. The majority of the theatres are gathered around Manhattan Midtown, near Times Square.
A small leg of Broadway street, precisely the lower part near the 8th street, hosts the so called ticker-tape parades, which are street parades organized to celebrate special events.
During these parades, thousands of pieces of paper are thrown from the windows.

Una curiosità riguardo a Broadway è che un tratto della strada, la parte inferiore nei pressi dell’ Ottava Strada, è sede delle ticker-tape parade e per questo motivo è chiamata il Canyon degli eroi.
Le ticker-tape parades sono parate organizzate per eventi speciali durante le quali dalle finestre vengono gettati pezzetti di carta a pioggia.
