The seat of New York’s municipal government since 1811 is an outstanding example of Federal period architecture.
This is a landmark building which some have described as the most beautiful in the USA.
It is elegant from its frontal columns to its cupola, topped with a figure of Lady Justice.
The mayor’s office is on the ground floor. What used to be the governor’s office has become a museum and portrait gallery.
