This library houses the wonderful collection of rare books and manuscripts amassed by the wealthy banker John Pierpont Morgan. Closed in 2003 for refurbishment and enlargement to a design by Renzo Piano, it reopened in 2006 and now has twice the exhibition space. Among the 10,000 and more items are three Gutenberg Bibles, original manuscripts by authors such as Mark Twain and Charles Dickens, drawings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Leonardo da Vinci, and original musical scores by Mozart and Beethoven.
