When finished, the construction of this Episcopal cathedral will have spanned three centuries. It was started in 1892 in Romanesque style, but also has Gothic and medieval elements. Work was interrupted by World War II and was not resumed until 1982. It is expected to be completed by the mid-21st century, with floorspace equal to two American football pitches, making it the world’s biggest cathedral. Tours are conducted at 11am between Tuesday and Saturday, at 1pm on Sunday.
The grounds include a Museum of Religious Art and a gift shop, as well as shelter and soup kitchen for the homeless.
